The 40 papyri document details about the daily lives of ordinary Egyptians living during the 27th years of Khufu’s reign.
One of the most interesting of the papyri documents is a diary kept by a harbor official named Merrer, who also helped lead the construction of the Great Pyramid at Giza.
From four different sheets and many fragments, the researchers were able to follow his daily activity for more that three months.
"Merrer mainly reported about his many trips to the Tura limestone quarry to fetch block for the building of the pyramid", said Pierre Tallet, Egyptologist at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and director of the archaeological mission, in an interview with Discovery News.
